Bacterial Vaginosis and Your Period

As I mentioned in an earlier post, after taking Metronidazole, my period caused by body to "forget" it had cured Bacterial Vaginosis, and the infection came right back! I made the mistake of stopping taking my Probiotic pills while I was on my period, because I didn't yet realize that blood raises the PH of your vagina.

So what I want to talk about here is how your period affects Bacterial Vaginosis because it's so important to understand during your fight to cure BV. In my experience, any luck that I've had "curing" the BV, is gone once my period comes and goes. It's almost as if my body resets itself, and goes back to having the infection.

Normal vaginas should have a PH of around 3.5 to 4.5, while blood has a PH of 7.4! So of course having your period will throw off the PH of your vagina. This is what makes curing BV so difficult!

I'm thinking repeated treatment using the Apple Cider Vinegar and Yogurt methods immediately after my period will hopefully do the trick. I'll keep you posted.
